This is the story of a girl.

Hey, I’m Sarah: a twenty-something TikTok addict who’s obsessed with Harry Styles, my cavoodle Nutmeg, and rescuing gorgeous, gorgeous clothes from landfill.

I’m a Leo, a lover of second hand clothing, and a Mentone girly at heart, attending an all-girls school in the same postcode as our pretty purple warehouse. I’m a little obsessed with influencers, so when I’m not creating fun outfits on Pinterest, I’m crushing on theirs.

I started Hunter Markets in 2015, wanting to stand out and give fashion-lovers, just like me, a chance to shop amazing wardrobes on a budget. I wanted to help women make bank, while finding loving homes for their preloved pieces.

Today, I run Hunter Markets alongside my employees; my beautiful sisters Natalie and Bridgette; my stunning parents; and my partner Levi. Together, we’re bringing our love of vintage, gifted and thrifted goodies to the masses.

But, our markets would be nothing without our community; our stallholders, loyal shoppers and fans. No tagged post or TikTok haul goes unnoticed, because support from Hunter honeys is unmatched. They’ve supported Hunter Markets through the good times (like @sophadophaa_ warehouse sales) and the not-so-good times (read: Melbourne’s lockdowns and when our warehouse flooded). They show up and thrift; and we get to do what we love – and for that we’re forever grateful.

Thrift, Swift, and uplift

You know what they say (they, being Macklemore): one man’s trash is another man’s come up.

These are the values we thrift by…

Slow down, baby.

Every year Australia buries 85% of its textiles in landfill. At Hunter, we’re all about loving our clothes till we can’t no more, rescuing perfectly good ‘fits from heading to the tip. We rep thrifted fashion by sharing, rewearing, and rehoming our threads.

Alter jeans, not images

Say it with us: all bodies are welcome. This is why the images on our website aren’t retouched, airbrushed or photoshopped in any way. Get used to flyaways, folds, curves and swerves, ‘cause all that stuff makes us human, baby.

A safe space

All Hunter honeys know that our bright purple marketplace is a safe and inclusive space to be who you wanna be. We welcome and celebrate individuality, when it comes to identity, expression, vibe and, especially, wardrobe.

Recycling is regulation hottie behaviour

Trends come and go. Literally. It’s good thrifting karma to keep incred pieces in circulation. Extending the lifespan of our clothing doesn’t just support recycling, it gives unworn or outgrown pieces a chance to find their glow up.

Respect for the Traditional Owners

Hunter Markets acknowledges the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we operate our market. We pay our respects to the Elders past and present, and their continued relationship with the land, water and community around us.
