As they say.. Look for the positive in every situation.

Large scale events were one of the first things to get booted when the pandemic struck in Melbourne and we were forced to close our market doors…

This hit us hard and we were devastated as the markets were booming and we had huge plans for the evolution of the Hunter Markets in 2020. We gave ourselves a day or two to cry about it and then wiped our tears and got back to the drawing board.

One of the things we loved seeing on Hunter Markets morning was the huge line of eager thrifters up and down the street. With the coffee caravan being inside the building we couldn’t service the crowd with coffees, treats and goodies to get them fuelled for the day of thrifting ahead.

Lockdown gave us time to get creative and come up with a cute little coffee window, @10Balcombe . Not just open for market day but thriving 7 days a week, supplying the the locals with the best coffee from St Ali; Mouth watering spicy chai from Monks, made in Balaclava; Organic hot choc from Mordiallic and sweet treats from Ned's bakery in Prahran.

Thanks to Sabrina Shopfitting, the fixtures and fittings from cafe are recycled pieces that have come from store defits. Normally, they would have been tossed into landfill but we scrubbed everything up nicely to be reused in our beautiful little cafe.

Our cups are decomposable and we don’t throw out our coffee grounds, we give them out to our customers to put into their gardens: coffee grounds make the perfect compost!

We sure as hell don't sell plastic bottled water.. and are striving our hardest to be a  totally plastic-free cafe so please bring in your Keep Cup when you swing by!

Pouring hot coffee 7 days a week.
